The topic lightweight construction by means of using synthetic materials became interesting to me during my studies at the Technical University Vienna and writing my diploma thesis at BMW in Landshut, in the lightweight centre division. At that time the first carbon fibre reinforced car bodies were manufactured as internal development project for the today´s lightweight products.
From 2006 to 2009 I have been responsible for renown projects concerning the production of fibre reinforced parts with a strong focus on automotive at Fischer CT, and have managed and taken technical responsibility for national and international research projects. The composite business unit of Fischer was sold to the German joint-venture BENTELER-SGL in 2009, and the attention turned towards automation and high-volume production. As head of research I was responsible for the new technical centre with 1.200 m² and a staff of up to 12 members working on R&D projects with international OEM´s and project partners from automotive and aerospace engineering. In 2016 I had the chance to assemble a totally new technical centre at 3.000 m² as Director R&D at KDX Europe Composite R&D Center GmbH, south of Munich. Together with the Chinese parent company I was able to acquire international automotive OEMs as customers and to develop the location equipped with single procurement and operational overall responsibility.
Since 2019 I am working self-employed with a focus on process development, project management, and quality issues for synthetic products, especially concentrating on fibre reinforcements.
